Nordic Walking is an endurance sport where you use two sticks to support you in your movement. This sport dates back to the 1930s, and even then it was already integrated into long-distance walkers' training in the German-speaking areas under the name "Stockgang" ("stick-walking") or "Stocklauf" ("stick-running"); it was

done in Summer and Autumn in order to improve fitness and therefore prepare for higher-intensity training in Winter.
